Dressing up like a corpse sounds easy as long as you have bought the whole set of costume from the gown to the accessories. However, if you plan to purchase them from different stores; or you would like to make do with the articles you have at home, here are some tips that would help you create a Corpse Bride image this Halloween.
1. It is easy to find the gown, but preferably a simple old gown that would not be heart wrenching to cut or to color. A corpse gown isn’t the usual clean white virginal gown most brides wear. Corpse Bride Wedding Gowns are those dirty white and worn gown zombies and corpse usually wear on movies. Thus make sure that you’re editing a simpler gown than you mother’s bridal gown.
2. Use simple veils. The height does not matter as long as you can move freely with your veil on. Like they say, simplicity is beauty. Just wear a simple veil to make it not gaudy. Aside from that, it is easier to mess up with a plain veil than those intricately embroidered. Plain veil would keep the colors neat when applied.
3. The Corpse Bride Bouquet should be gloomy in colors. You do not have to use dead flowers, just those darkly colored ones. You could use violets and blue colored flowers. It does not have to be fresh real flowers. You could even buy those white fake roses and dye them with blue and grey hues. I know you are trying to imitate a dead character but it would be nice to look like a living dead than a boring corpse.
4. You could wear gloves and you could even wear any sandals you like, as long as it matches the gown. It would be better to wear grey though, since we are trying to keep a monochromatic blue-grey motif.
5. The make-up should be pale. Make dark circles around your eyes for the hallow look and paint your lips pale or black. You could even use blue mascara to make it prettier. Just explore. Put some bruises in here and a little stitch mark in there and it’s perfect.
